Trade & Industry

Paper is tactile, and we print for Britain. We’re the longest running publication in each of the business sectors we serve. We work to help others work better, and we’re pretty happy to be doing that.

Here’s a little bit about the history . . when the words first came together the hard copy was put to the typesetter; the columns came back in strips to be clagged down with the high octane, petroleum based stickiness of the cut & paste technique. Letraset was used for bold titles, little grey dotted bromides - they were the pictures. If you wanted to use a colour photograph . . expensive that, mind . . . you faced a three day turn around. Printing the journal took well over a week The postal delivery was quicker, and cost a lot less to get the journals there, than today.

That was Trade & Industry, something like thirty years ago. In those days we wrote for Retailers and networked as widely as possible to get stories that matter. We knew that product would always be king - but you also had to be well aware of the King’s Clothes. And be watching out for agendas, in the making, being rolled out . . .

That and much more like it, makes up the whole load of decades we’ve spent with Trade & Industry.

The thing about history is that not a lot changes. Yet the whole world is on the move, changing as it goes. The job is more than interesting, the telling quite thrilling at times. Trade & Industry - what a trio of opportunity!

Here your opportunity is to read the electronic version, one that’s fully searchable for a key word or name. The pdf version of Trade & Industry is mailed world-wide and our collection of journals at editor’s desk updated to summer 2008 issues. Consider it your library.

of the recurring themes . . .

Be as green as you possibly can, remember that the planet isn’t really ours to mess with. The future is what our grandchildren’s grandchildren will inherit, so play it cool. If you’ve a green thought or image, then share it.

Travel & tourism are regulars on our pages. Every bit of the gear that Retailers sell will be worn or used to travel in one form or another, go places, or be adventurous. It’s a recurring theme, that Day in the Country.
